    At Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital’s Department of Laboratory Medicine, we are committed to integrating the latest medical knowledge and technology into patient care to deliver rapid and precise diagnostic results. Our dedicated team of three professors, 40 clinical laboratory scientists, and specialized transfusion nurses work tirelessly with state-of-the-art medical equipment to provide the highest quality healthcare services.
  • Department Overview
    The Department of Laboratory Medicine conducts diagnostic tests and interprets results using specimens derived from blood, urine, and other body fluids to aid in disease diagnosis, risk assessment, treatment, and prognosis. Each member of our team specializes in subspecialties to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of diagnostic results.
    • Hematology : Complete blood count, peripheral blood smear, coagulation studies, bone marrow examination, and body fluid analysis.
    • Clinical Chemistry : Liver function tests, renal function tests, blood gas analysis, urinalysis, and more.
    • Immunology : Tests for autoimmune diseases, tumor markers, endocrine hormones, cardiac biomarkers, and allergies.
    • Microbiology : Bacterial, fungal, acid-fast bacillus, and parasitological testing, including antimicrobial susceptibility.
    • Transfusion Medicine (Blood Bank) : Blood typing, unexpected antibody screening, cross-matching, direct antiglobulin testing, and therapeutic apheresis.
    • Molecular Diagnostics : Molecular testing for infectious agents and genetic diseases.
    In addition, the department operates specialized phlebotomy, urinalysis, and transfusion management units.
